What email services will give me information about existing accounts?
2010-02-01 at 02:45 pm adminI’m working on anti-fraud software for affiliate marketers and I want to be able to validate the existence of a given email and how old the account is. Does Yahoo mail allow this? G-mail? Hotmail?
No, most of the time you are not going to be able to tell how old an email address is or if the owner of it has changed. You can check the age of a domain with whois but if you start generating a lot of whois queries you’ll get blocked. What other characteristics are you trying to look into? Common sense is the best anti-fraud tool.
